This American IPA presents a modern, foggy New Zealand-inspired profile. A soft base of barley, oats, and wheat malts supports a massive 4.5 lbs per barrel double dry hop of Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, and Motueka. These hops deliver intense notes of crushed white grapes, diesel, and lime zest, which harmonize with additions of real peach, grapefruit, and tangerine. The result is a lush, forest-driven sensory experience where stone fruit sweetness meets sharp citrus. While rooted in the American IPA tradition, the inclusion of protein-rich grains and vibrant fruit creates a juicy, contemporary intensity balanced by a clean fermentation profile.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (6-8 SRM) with a significant foggy haze from oats and wheat. Pours with a dense, creamy, off-white head that shows excellent persistence and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by New Zealand characteristics: Nelson Sauvin provides white wine and gooseberry, while Riwaka and Motueka offer passionfruit and lime. The added peach and tangerine provide a bright, pulpy fruitiness over a low, bready malt backdrop.
Taste. Initial burst of sweet peach and tangy grapefruit. The mid-palate reveals complex hop flavors of diesel, lime, and tropical fruit. Bitterness is moderate, balanced by a soft malt backbone and fruit sugars. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering tangerine and resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, creamy texture derived from the oat and wheat additions. Carbonation is moderate. Very smooth with no astringency; the alcohol provides a very light, well-integrated warmth.
