Imperial IPA 8 º
Western Skyline is a vibrant West Coast Double IPA that captures the essence of a damp coniferous forest through a sophisticated blend of Chinook, Mosaic, Centennial, and Citra hops. The aroma leads with intense notes of resinous pine and damp earth, quickly giving way to layers of ripe grapefruit and tropical berry. On the palate, Centennial provides a classic floral bitterness, while Citra and Mosaic deliver a saturated citrus profile reminiscent of sun-drenched groves. Despite its 8% strength, the beer remains exceptionally clean and crisp, finishing dry with a lingering, resinous hop punch that emphasizes its West Coast roots.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper color (7-9 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma showcasing resinous pine, spruce, and dank earthiness. Complemented by bright grapefruit zest, floral blossoms, and underlying tropical notes of mango and berry. Malt is neutral, grainy, and supportive in the background.
Taste. Powerful hop-forward flavor profile. Strong citrus peel and pine resin dominate the initial impression, followed by a firm, moderately high bitterness that never becomes harsh. The malt character is low and unobtrusive, providing a clean, crackery base. Finishes very dry with a long, crisp, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, lean texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing, crisp bite. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot.
