Humble Forager Brewery

This decadent Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer presents a lavish sensory profile built on a massive dark malt foundation. Aromas of freshly roasted Mostra Coffee beans and rich Wisconsin maple syrup dominate the nose, followed by the fragrant warmth of Mexican vanilla beans. On the palate, a complex interplay of Ecuadorian cocoa nibs and Chocolate malt creates a deep fudge-like character, while crystal malts and Belgian candi sugar provide a lush, dark fruit sweetness. The intense 12% ABV provides a significant, well-integrated warmth that balances the viscous, full-bodied texture. A subtle roasted malt dryness ensures the finish remains sophisticated despite the indulgent additions.

Appearance. Opaque, ebony-black (40+ SRM) with a thick, dense, mocha-colored head that persists with heavy lacing. Highly viscous, showing prominent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High-intensity aromas of dark-roasted coffee and sweet maple syrup lead. Secondary notes of vanilla and earthy cocoa are prominent, supported by background hints of dark fruit and caramelized sugar. No hop aroma is present.

Taste. Bold and multifaceted; initial impressions of sweet maple and vanilla transition into rich dark chocolate. The sweetness of brown sugar and crystal malts is countered by a firm roasted malt bitterness and the acidic bite of espresso. The finish is long and lingering with notes of toasted sugar and cocoa.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a creamy, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, and a significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth provides a soothing, rounded sensation without harshness.
