Enchanted Island V4 is a vibrant Wild Specialty Beer that artfully mimics a Hurricane cocktail. This expression lead with the pungent, tropical intensity of Passion Fruit, supported by the sharp, citrus-driven acidity of Calamansi lime. The Calamansi acts as a bright counterpoint to the jammy depth of sweet Cherry, while Mandarin orange serves as a flavor bridge, unifying the citrus and stone fruit profiles. A delicate addition of Wildflower honey rounds out the finish, softening the wild fermentation's tart edges. At 9% ABV, the beer presents a substantial, nectar-like character where exotic fruit and floral sweetness dance over a complex, funky base.
Appearance. Pours a saturated, opaque coral-orange (SRM 12-14) with a dense, pink-tinted head. Retention is moderate, eventually fading to a thick collar with light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh passion fruit and zesty lime. Secondary notes of sweet cherry and floral honey are prominent. A subtle, earthy funk from the wild fermentation provides complexity beneath the dominant fruit layers, with no hop aroma present.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tart passion fruit and sharp Calamansi acidity. The mid-palate introduces a rich, jammy cherry sweetness and bright mandarin orange zest. The wild yeast provides a moderate lactic sourness and a hint of rustic funk. The finish is long and balanced by the floral sweetness of Wildflower honey, which masks any harshness. Bitterness is virtually non-existent.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a lush, almost pulpy texture from the fruit puree. Carbonation is moderate, providing enough lift to cut through the density. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, accompanied by a smooth, honey-coated finish.
