Hornbeer Grisk
This West Coast American IPA delivers a punchy sensory experience that lives up to its bold, assertive namesake. The profile is dominated by a vibrant, hop-forward character, showcasing intense notes of citrus zest, resinous pine, and a hint of tropical fruit typical of New World varieties. A clean, supportive base of pale malt provides a subtle, grainy sweetness that quickly yields to a firm, assertive bitterness. The fermentation is impeccably clean, allowing the hop complexity to remain the focal point. It finishes crisp and decidedly dry, inviting another sip while leaving a lingering trail of grapefruit peel and evergreen on the palate.
Appearance. Brilliant deep gold to light copper (approx. 8-10 SRM). Features a thick, frothy, off-white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, orange peel, and resinous pine. A background of low, clean, grainy malt supports the hops. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters.
Taste. Leading with a medium-high bitterness, the flavor profile mirrors the aroma with layers of citrus rind and resinous hop oils. Malt presence is low and grainy with a touch of toasted bread. The balance is heavily hop-forward, leading into a crisp, dry finish with a long-lasting, bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing prickle. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
