Double Hazy Queen is an opulent Double New England IPA that delivers a lush, creamy sensory experience. The substantial 20g/L dry-hop addition creates a saturated profile dominated by the distinctive white wine and crushed gooseberry notes of Nelson Sauvin. This is layered atop a vibrant tropical foundation provided by Citra, which contributes bright flashes of tangerine and lime, while Mosaic adds complexity with hints of blueberry and ripe stone fruit. Despite its 8% strength, the alcohol is well-integrated into a thick, velvety body. This beer exemplifies a modern approach to the Double IPA, balancing massive hop saturation with a smooth, pillowy finish.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a pronounced, opaque haze. Features a tall, dense, persistent off-white head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Vivid notes of white wine grapes and gooseberry from Nelson Sauvin are prominent, followed by Citra-derived tangerine and passion fruit. Mosaic provides deeper layers of blueberry, tropical papaya, and a hint of resin. Low, neutral grainy malt sweetness persists in the background with a clean fermentation profile.
