Horizont Brewing's Double Gentle Bastard is an intense, high-energy Double IPA that balances aggressive hop power with deceptive drinkability. Bright, punchy aromas of sweet tangerine, grapefruit peel, and resinous pine dominate the nose, supported by a lean, clean malt backbone that keeps the focus entirely on the citrus-forward hops. On the palate, a wave of vibrant citrus fruitiness is quickly countered by a clean, firm bitterness that stretches into a dry, resinous finish. At eight percent alcohol by volume, it offers a well-integrated, smooth warmth that elevates the tasting experience without overwhelming the senses.
Appearance. Pours a bright, clear gold to light orange-copper color with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves tight, attractive lacing on the glass.
