This commanding Imperial Stout presents an opulent sensory profile defined by its 12% ABV stature and meticulous barrel aging. Intense aromas of bittersweet chocolate and espresso merge with the aromatic sweetness of vanilla and the charred oak of the barrel. On the palate, a complex layer of dark fruit—specifically raisins and black currants—intertwines with rich malt flavors of toasted bread and cocoa. The addition of vanilla provides a creamy, dessert-like counterpoint to the firm bitterness and roasted grain character. Its viscous, velvety texture leads into a long, warming finish where spirituous notes and wood tannins linger harmoniously.

Appearance. Jet black and fully opaque (40+ SRM). Crowned by a dense, deep tan head with moderate retention. High viscosity is evident through visible legs on the glass as the liquid swirls.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and charred grain. Strong aromatic vanilla and caramel-like oak notes are present, complemented by moderate dark fruit esters resembling prunes and raisins. Alcohol is noticeable but smooth, not sharp.

Taste. Initial impression is rich and intensely malty with flavors of cocoa and espresso. The mid-palate reveals creamy vanilla and toasted oak tannins. Bitterness is firm but balanced by the significant malt depth and vanilla sweetness. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of dark chocolate and wood.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, chewy, and viscous with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A distinct, pleasant alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 12% ABV without being harsh or solventy.
