Hope Brewery Oat Cream IPA
This Hazy IPA offers a lush, tropical experience driven by a trio of Sabro, Simcoe, and Ekuanot hops. It presents a saturated sensory profile where the Sabro contributes distinct notes of toasted coconut, while Simcoe and Ekuanot provide layers of ripe mango, papaya, and citrus zest. The addition of oats and lactose creates a velvety, pillowy texture that carries the intense hop fruitiness across the palate. Despite its richness, it maintains a clean finish, balancing the sweetness of the lactose with a soft, restrained bitterness. It is a modern, fruit-forward expression with high drinkability and a smooth, oat cream character.
Appearance. Straw to light amber (4–6 SRM). Opaque with a uniform haze and a luminous glow. Features a dense, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by tropical fruit and coconut (Sabro). Notes of pineapple, passion fruit, and lime zest are prominent. Background notes of sweet cream and doughy malt are present from the lactose and oats. Clean fermentation with subtle stone fruit esters; no caramel or toast.
Taste. Initial burst of tropical juice including mango, coconut, and citrus. High hop flavor mirrors the aroma. Low to medium-low bitterness, very smooth and never harsh. Malt is supportive and bready, enhanced by the subtle residual sweetness of lactose. Finish is clean and soft with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, creamy texture from the oats and lactose. Moderate carbonation. Soft, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No astringency or harshness.
