This West Coast Double IPA delivers a classic, assertive sensory experience defined by its clarity and punchy hop profile. Pouring a brilliant gold with a resilient white head, the beer opens with high-intensity aromas of resinous pine and bright grapefruit zest. On the palate, the experience is dominated by a firm, bracing bitterness that is clean and focused, supported by a lean, neutral malt backbone that suggests light toasted grain. At 8% ABV, there is a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth that complements the dry, crisp finish, ensuring the hops remain the star from the first sniff to the long-lingering, bitter aftertaste.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by resinous pine, grapefruit, and floral notes. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy background. Fermentation profile is clean with no significant esters or phenols.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of citrus rind and pine resin. High bitterness that is firm but not harsh. Malt flavor is low and supportive, offering a clean, cracker-like character. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a long, lingering hoppy bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present at 8% ABV.
