Hop Skin Three presents a vibrant sensory profile, celebrating its anniversary with a luscious, tropical-forward character. The foundation of Pilsner malt and flaked Oats creates a soft, grainy backdrop that supports the intense additions of fresh Mango. The dry-hop duo of Citra and Enigma drives the aroma, bursting with notes of white grape, passion fruit, and bright tangerine. On the palate, the addition of Lactose rounds out the mouthfeel, enhancing the beer’s juicy nature while softening the finish. This Hazy IPA balances a gentle bitterness with a pillowy texture, resulting in a complex, fruit-saturated experience that lingers with a smooth, citrusy aftertaste.
Appearance. Color is deep straw to light orange (4-6 SRM). Opaque haze providing a luminous shine. Thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Bold mango puree dominates the foreground, followed by Citra-derived grapefruit and Enigma’s unique red currant and melon notes. Background notes of grainy, bready Pilsner malt and supportive fruity esters; clean fermentation profile with no diacetyl.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor featuring tropical mango, lime zest, and ripe berries. Bitterness is low to medium-low, perfectly balanced against the soft malt. The grain profile is bready, bolstered by a slight lactose sweetness. The finish is smooth and off-dry, with a lingering fruit-juice impression and no hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably smooth, pillowy texture from the flaked Oats and Lactose. Moderate carbonation. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any astringency.
