Snow Fort: Second Siege is a multifaceted Double IPA that reimagines the style through a festive, sensory-rich lens. A robust base of barley, wheat, and oat flakes provides a velvety foundation for a saturated citrus profile driven by orange puree and orange peel. This bright acidity is tempered by the comforting, dessert-like warmth of vanilla and a delicate dusting of cinnamon. While the hops maintain a firm, resinous presence consistent with its strength, the addition of maltodextrin ensures a luxurious mouthfeel that balances the 8.5% alcohol. It is a harmonious blend of classic bitterness and winter-inspired aromatics.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper with an opaque haze from the oats and wheat. Dense, persistent off-white head with significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity featuring prominent citrus and resinous hops, layered with fresh orange puree and orange peel. Distinct notes of warm cinnamon and creamy vanilla follow, over a clean, neutral to grainy malt background.
Taste. Initial impression of tart orange and zesty peel, followed by a mid-palate of spicy cinnamon and sweet vanilla. Moderately high hop bitterness provides a firm counterpoint to the maltodextrin. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering citrus and resinous hop aftertaste and soft bready notes.
