This Hazy IPA presents a complex, experimental sensory profile driven by a bold pairing of Enigma and HBC 472 hops. The Enigma contribution manifests as an intense wave of ripe pineapple and pungent mango peel, accented by a distinct, diesel-like dankness. This is layered against the unique, funky character of HBC 472, which introduces hints of spicy fruit and crushed wet grass. Bright notes of oily tangerine zest provide a citrus lift throughout. The palate is defined by a soft, plush texture typical of the style, balancing high fruit intensity against a restrained bitterness that finishes with a clean, tropical linger.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (SRM 4-6) with an opaque, luminous haze. Features a thick, white, meringue-like head with very high retention and substantial lacing.
Aroma. High intensity featuring heavy tropical fruit notes of mango and ripe pineapple. Distinct citrus character resembling tangerine zest is present alongside a unique earthy, diesel-like quality and crushed grass. Low bready, neutral malt support with no caramel character.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical mango and spicy pineapple. Oily tangerine citrus and a resinous, funky hop character follow. Low to medium-low bitterness provides balance without being sharp. Malt flavor is low and grainy-sweet. Finishes off-dry and smooth with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, soft, and plush texture. Moderate carbonation and light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. Free of any harsh hop astringency or starchy graininess.
