Hop Hooligans

This Double IPA presents a lush sensory interplay between the distinctive profile of Nelson Sauvin and the vibrant addition of Fragola grape juice. A thick, pillowy base of Wheat malt, Malted oats, and Spelt malt provides a creamy canvas for intense aromas of white grape, crushed gooseberry, and fresh strawberry. Motueka hops contribute a zesty lime and tropical fruit lift, harmonizing with the sweet, must-like qualities of the grape juice. Fermented with London Ale III, the profile remains soft and fruit-forward, balancing a moderate bitterness with a velvety, medium-full texture that masks its 8% strength with elegant, vinous sophistication.

Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (4-7 SRM). Opaque and hazy due to a heavy protein load from Spelt malt and oats. Thick, persistent white head with dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by white wine grapes, gooseberry, and a unique floral strawberry note from the Fragola juice. Motueka adds distinctive lime zest and tropical fruit. Subtle bready, grainy malt in the background with light fruity esters.

Taste. Bold initial impression of sweet grape must and tropical fruit. Strong flavors of gooseberry and lime from Nelson Sauvin and Motueka. Malt character is soft and doughy, provided by Extra pale malt and wheat. Bitterness is firm but rounded, lacking harshness. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering vinous and resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably creamy, smooth texture from the flaked oats and Spelt malt. Moderate carbonation. Subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth without being hot. No astringency.
