Hop Hooligans

This Imperial Stout offers an opulent sensory profile, anchored by a massive grain bill featuring Golden Promise, Pale chocolate, and Roasted barley. The infusion of Colombia Jairo Arcila Peach Coffee creates a unique tension between deep, roasted espresso notes and vibrant stone fruit sweetness. Layers of DRC and Brown malt contribute nuances of dark fruit and toasted biscuits, while Oat malt and Barley flakes build a decadent, velvety texture. It is a high-intensity experience where peach-forward coffee aromatics meld with rich cocoa, leading into a warming, bittersweet finish that balances the significant 12% alcohol presence.

Appearance. Jet black (40+ SRM) and completely opaque. It supports a thick, long-lasting deep tan head that leaves heavy lacing; high viscosity is evidenced by prominent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Immediate notes of roasted coffee bean and fuzzy peach esters are underpinned by a complex malt presence of dark chocolate, black licorice, and burnt toast. Hop aroma is negligible; the clean WLP 001 fermentation allows the peach coffee and specialty malts to dominate.

Taste. A powerful initial impression of bittersweet chocolate and intense espresso. The mid-palate highlights the peach coffee's fruitiness, supported by the plum-like character of DRC malt. Firm bitterness provides necessary balance to the residual sweetness. The finish is long and complex, showing lingering roast and smooth alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, contributing to a slow-sipping, cozy mouthfeel.

A Pastry Stout kifejezés leggyakrabban olyan stoutra utal, amelyet szándékosan édesre főznek és gyakran rengeteg cukros összetevő hozzáadásával készül. A végcél általában az, hogy olyan sört főzzenek, amely a desszert ízét - és néha megjelenését - utánozza. Az „imperial” jelző a magas alkoholtartalomra utal.

A Stout a porter szárazabb, sötétebb, testesebb erősebb leszármazottja. Színben nagyon hasonlóak, a stoutokban azonban sokkal több a karamellizált pörkölt maláta és a kávés ízvilág, valamint édeskésebbek is. A stout szó első ismert használata egy 1677-ben keltezett, az Egerton Manuscripts-ban talált dokumentumban, amely a sör erősségére utal. 1721-ben használták először a porter nevet egy pörkölt malátával készült sötétbarna sör leírására. A porterek hatalmas népszerűsége miatt a sörfőzők többféle erősségben készítették őket. Az erősebb, jellemzően 7 vagy 8 %-os alkoholtartalmú söröket "stout porter"-nek nevezték, így a stout és a porter története és fejlődése összefonódott.
