Grape Expectations is a refreshing Saison that marries traditional farmhouse character with a vibrant vinous twist. Brewed with barley malt and wheat malt, it offers a soft, grainy foundation that supports its sessionable strength. The addition of grape juice elevates the fermentation profile, introducing pome fruit and subtle white wine notes that mingle with spicy black pepper phenols. This collaboration with Crossline Brewing delivers a highly attenuated, effervescent experience where earthy hops provide a delicate counterpoint to the tart fruit influence. It concludes with a bone-dry finish, capturing a rustic yet sophisticated sensory journey.
Appearance. Pale gold with a slight hazy tint (5 SRM). Features a dense, rocky white head with excellent retention and significant Belgian lace. Highly effervescent.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Bright bouquet of spicy black pepper yeast phenols and citrusy esters. The grape juice provides a distinct white grape and stone fruit aroma. Low earthy hop notes and a faint, grainy wheat malt presence are evident.
Taste. Initial crisp impression. Grainy malt flavors provide a soft palate, quickly overtaken by spicy yeast phenols and a tart vinous quality from the grape juice. Hop bitterness is moderate, balancing the fruit. The finish is exceptionally dry and clean, with a lingering peppery and slightly floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a very high, prickly carbonation that provides an effervescent, champagne-like feel. Alcohol warmth is negligible at 5% ABV. No astringency; smooth but highly attenuated.
