This bold American Barleywine commands attention with a formidable grain bill, where rich Maris Otter and toasted Munich malts weave a deep, bready, and caramelized canvas. A massive, complex hop profile defined by Idaho 7, Strata, Simcoe, and Citra pierces the malty depth, unleashing vibrant waves of resinous pine, bright grapefruit citrus, and ripe tropical passionfruit. Despite its imposing strength, the neutral fermentation keeps the profile clean, allowing the aggressive hop bitterness to grapple beautifully with luscious residual sweetness. It is a massive, warming, and deeply contemplative sipper that masterfully balances modern hop saturation with traditional English-inspired malt architecture.
Appearance. Deep copper to rich amber in color with prominent ruby highlights. It pours with a moderate, cream-colored head that exhibits moderate retention. Excellent clarity with noticeable legs forming on the sides of the glass due to the high alcohol content.
Aroma. High intensity and highly complex. Bold hop aromas of resinous pine, grapefruit, and dank tropical fruits compete with a rich, bready, and caramelized malt presence. Ebben a desszertsörnek is nevezett típusban a karamellmalátás édesség mindig domináns, a keserűség lehet magasabb (amerikai típus) illetve visszahúzódó, szinte alig észrevehető (angol típus). Gyakori a mazsolás, szőlős ízérzet. Színvilága a borostyán és mély vöröstől egészen a sötétbarnáig terjedhet. Az idő kimondottan jót tesz ezeknek a stílusoknak valamint rendkívül gyakori a hordóérlelés ezeknél a tételeknél.
