Hop Hooligans Exit Vim
This American IPA is a pungent, resinous showcase of modern hop complexity. An intense aromatic profile leads with the damp pine and woodsy resins of Simcoe, followed by the punchy tropical passionfruit notes of Strata. The citrus-forward brightness of Citra provides a sharp grapefruit counterpoint, while Nelson Sauvin adds a sophisticated layer of white grape and crushed gooseberry. Built on a crisp, lean foundation of Heidelberg and Pale malt, the palate is exceptionally dry and assertive. A firm, lingering bitterness dominates the finish, staying true to its West Coast-inspired roots while maintaining a vibrant, fruit-forward edge throughout every sip.
Appearance. Deep gold with brilliant clarity. Pours with a thick, persistent white head that leaves significant lacy patterns on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Initial notes of sticky pine resin and grapefruit zest are followed by crushed gooseberry and passionfruit. Very low grainy-sweet malt presence. Clean fermentation profile with no diacetyl or sulfur.
Taste. Assertive and sharp hop bitterness takes center stage. Flavors of citrus peel, resinous pine, and tropical fruit mirror the aroma. The malt character is minimal and crackery, providing just enough support for the hops. The finish is very dry and crisp with a long-lasting, clean bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate carbonation provides a refreshing bite. Very light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no astringency despite the high bitterness.
