Hop Hooligans Dead On Arrival
This American IPA showcases a vibrant hop intensity over a lean, crystalline base of Heidelberg malt and body-enhancing Chit malt. The sensory experience is led by an assertive punch of tropical fruit, where Nectaron provides saturated notes of ripe peach and pineapple, while Strata adds layers of passion fruit and a signature hint of dank strawberry. Fermented cleanly with WLP001, the profile avoids ester interference, highlighting a sharp, resinous bitterness. The addition of dextrose ensures a crisp, bone-dry finish that emphasizes the bright hop character, leaving a lingering impression of citrus zest and sun-ripened stone fruits.
Appearance. Light gold (SRM 4–6) with brilliant clarity. A dense, persistent white head provides excellent lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and peach. Subtle background notes of grapefruit and resin. Malt is very low and neutral, presenting as a faint crackery graininess. Clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Hop-forward with immediate flavors of nectarine, passion fruit, and tropical punch. Bitterness is firm and assertive, balanced by a very low, clean, grainy malt presence. Dry finish with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste. No harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation. Alcohol warmth is negligible and well-integrated.
