Hop Hooligans

This Double IPA presents a lush, modern sensory experience built on a soft, bready foundation of Heidelberg malt, Golden Promise, and substantial oat and wheat additions. An intense aromatic bouquet driven by Vista and Elani hops offers layered notes of ripe peach, pineapple, and honeydew melon. The addition of Motueka Hop Kief injects a concentrated burst of zesty lime and tropical punch. Fermented with London Ale III, the profile is further lifted by stone fruit esters, leading into a smooth, creamy palate. Despite its 8% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a firm but integrated bitterness and a clean, fruit-forward finish.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a large, persistent, creamy white head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pineapple, white peach, and cantaloupe from Vista and Elani hops, paired with a sharp lime citrus note from Motueka Hop Kief. Low bready and grainy malt character in the background with moderate fruity esters of pear and apricot.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus. Prominent flavors of lime, mango, and stone fruit dominate. Low to medium supportive malt character with hints of biscuit and honey. Moderately high bitterness that remains smooth and lacks harshness. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, resinous fruit character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creamy and silky texture. Moderate carbonation. Smooth, light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. No hop-derived astringency.
