Hop Hooligans Chicxulub Impactor
This gargantuan Double IPA delivers a colossal sensory impact, driven by an intensive blend of Mosaic, Idaho 7, HBC 586, HBC 1019, and Nectaron hops. The London Ale III yeast fosters a lush ester profile, amplifying vibrant notes of pineapple, passion fruit, and stone fruit. Supported by a grain bill of Heidelberg malt, oats, and wheat, the body is substantial yet silky. Mosaic provides signature blueberry and pine accents, while Nectaron adds vivid layers of peach. Despite the high strength, the inclusion of dextrose ensures a finish that remains drinkable, wrecking the palate with layered hop complexity and a smooth, warming finish.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (7 SRM). Opaque with a heavy, persistent haze. Thick, creamy white head with excellent retention and dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma. Dominant tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple are layered with peach and nectarine. Mosaic contributes a light dankness and berry character, while Idaho 7 adds hints of pine and black tea. Low, grainy malt sweetness and fruity fermentation esters from the London Ale III yeast are present in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical and stone fruit. Complex hop flavors of ripe mango, citrus zest, and nectarine lead the profile. High bitterness provides a firm structure but remains smooth and integrated, never becoming harsh. A soft, bready malt character from the oats and wheat supports the hops. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a long, lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, velvety texture from the heavy use of oat flakes and wheat. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth that provides a smooth glow without solventy notes. No significant hop astringency.

CHICXULUB IMPACTOR burns through Mosaic and Idaho 7 on the hot side, but the scorching frontal hit is provided by Nectaron, HBC586 and HBC1019. It’s full of tutti-frutti bubblegum, drenched with spiked tropical fruit punch and sweet cherry compote, with a gentle chive edge, some still assertive bitterness, even for its style, and an overall feeling of ‘sturdiness’ that’ll make you move mountains.
