This Double IPA showcases a punchy synergy between Sabro, Sabro Cryo, and Simcoe hops. A base of barley malt reinforced by oat malt, oat flakes, and wheat malt creates a soft, pillowy canvas for intense aromatics. Expect an explosion of creamy coconut and tropical pineapple from the Sabro, sharpened by the resinous pine and bright citrus notes of Simcoe. At 8% ABV, the beer delivers a well-integrated alcohol warmth that supports the high hop saturation without becoming solventy. The finish is impressively clean for its strength, balancing firm bitterness against a subtle, grainy sweetness and a lingering, multifaceted fruity aftertaste.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange-copper (6–10 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves thick lacing. Features a characteristic haze due to the high protein content from oat and wheat additions.
Aroma. High intensity hop profile dominated by tropical fruit, specifically coconut and pineapple, alongside grapefruit and resinous pine. Background notes of stone fruit and a hint of mint. Low, neutral grainy malt aroma with a faint sweetness; fermentation is clean with very subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Initial punch of tropical passionfruit and creamy coconut, transitioning into a firm, resinous bitterness. Hop flavors follow the aroma with layers of tangerine and cedar. The malt backbone is soft and unobtrusive, providing a light bready character. Medium-dry finish with a lingering hoppy bitterness that remains smooth and avoids harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably smooth, creamy texture from the oat malt and flakes. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol warmth is present but smooth and restrained. No noticeable hop-derived astringency.
