Hop Hooligans

This Double IPA is a singular exploration of Citra hops, utilizing T90, BBC, Lupomax, and Cryo formats to achieve maximum aromatic saturation. A grist of extra pale malt, malted oats, and wheat creates a soft, hazy canvas for the hop profile to shine. Expect a powerful sensory surge of ripe mango, zesty grapefruit, and a distinctively dank, catty complexity. Fermented with London Ale III yeast, the beer exhibits a creamy texture and subtle fruity esters that complement the hop-forward character. It finishes with a firm but smooth bitterness, expertly masking its 8% strength behind layers of lush, tropical intensity.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (SRM 5-7). The beer is hazy to opaque with a moderate-sized, persistent, white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by Citra, showcasing grapefruit, lime, and tropical mango. A pronounced resinous dankness and catty (blackcurrant leaf) character are present. Background malt is clean, neutral, and slightly grainy.

Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of mango, passion fruit, and citrus zest. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but smooth and lacking harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, providing a bready, supportive backbone. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, resinous hop aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture provided by the flaked oats and wheat. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without any solventy character.
