Arktos is a colossal Imperial Stout that commands the senses with its staggering 16.5% ABV. The intricate malt bill, featuring Munich, Chocolate malt, and Red Rye Crystal, creates a foundational complexity of toasted bread and spicy undertones. High-intensity layers of dark fruit, driven by Double Roasted Crystal (DRC) and Crystal extra dark malts, manifest as deep notes of raisins and dried figs. Brewed with WLP002, the fermentation adds subtle fruity esters that meld seamlessly with the viscous, jet-black body. This is a brooding, velvet-textured beer where the freezing darkness of the cosmos meets the searing warmth of a perfectly integrated alcohol presence, finishing with a lingering, bittersweet cocoa roast.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head that shows moderate retention and leaves significant lacing. High viscosity is evident as oily legs clinging to the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and heavily toasted grain. Pronounced dark fruit esters of plum, prune, and black currant are present. A subtle spicy rye character and a clean but powerful alcoholic warmth round out the complex profile.

Taste. Intense flavors of dark chocolate, burnt grain, and coffee. The mid-palate is dominated by complex specialty malts, offering notes of raisins, figs, and a touch of peppery spice from the rye. High bitterness provides balance to the massive malt sweetness, leading to a long, warming, and bittersweet finish with a lingering roasted character.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, chewy, and luscious with a velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-low. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated, lacking any sharp or solventy harshness.
