This massive Gin Barrel Aged Imperial Stout presents an imposing sensory profile defined by its staggering 15.5% ABV and unique botanical infusion. The aroma is a complex tapestry of espresso-like roast and dark chocolate, interwoven with the sharp, resinous perfume of juniper and the herbal, peppery nuances of gin barrels. Oat flakes provide a dense, silky texture that carries heavy notes of blackcurrant and fig esters. On the palate, the intense bitterness of the roast is tempered by significant residual sweetness and a deep, spirit-forward warmth. The finish is exceptionally long, leaving a lingering impression of botanical spice and toasted malt.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque. It pours with a thick, deep tan head that shows moderate retention, eventually subsiding to a persistent collar. High viscosity is apparent through prominent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity and multifaceted. Deep roasted notes of bittersweet chocolate, charred grain, and espresso dominate the foreground. This is layered with a botanical gin character, featuring sharp piney juniper and a hint of coriander or lime peel. Moderate dark fruit esters reminiscent of dried plums and black currants emerge as it warms, alongside a smooth, spicy alcohol presence.

Taste. An intense explosion of rich, toasted malt and decadent cocoa. The mid-palate introduces the resinous, herbal complexity of juniper berries and botanical gin, which cuts through the heavy sweetness. Firm bitterness from roasted grains and hops provides balance, though the finish remains moderately sweet and luscious. Aftertaste lingers with notes of black licorice, peppery spirit, and dark-roasted coffee.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture enhanced by oat flakes. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant and steady alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high gravity, yet it remains smooth rather than harsh.
