Appearance. Deep brown to opaque black (SRM 35-40). Features a thick, creamy, and highly persistent tan head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Pronounced aromas of roasted coffee and dark chocolate are supported by a light grainy-nutty oatmeal character. Subtle fruity esters reminiscent of cherry and a faint vanilla sweetness are present. Very low earthy hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impression of rich espresso and bittersweet cocoa. Mid-palate reveals secondary notes of vanilla and dark cherry. Moderate bitterness is well-balanced by a medium-sweet malt backbone. Toasty, nutty flavors from the oats lead into a smooth, lingering roasty finish without harshness.
