This vibrant American IPA showcases the exceptional freshness of the annual hop harvest, featuring Nelson Sauvin, Taiheke, and Southern Cross hops processed within hours of being picked. The sensory experience is dominated by an intense, multi-layered hop profile; the Nelson Sauvin delivers signature notes of crushed gooseberry and white wine grapes, while Taiheke adds bright grapefruit citrus, and Southern Cross provides a clean, resinous pine and lemon zest finish. A light, grainy malt base allows these fresh hop characters to remain front and center. The result is a beautifully balanced, golden ale with a crisp, dry finish that captures the fleeting essence of the hop garden.
Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM) with a brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves decorative lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical fruit, passionfruit, and gooseberry. Secondary aromas include grapefruit, lime zest, and a hint of resinous pine. A low, clean, grainy-sweet malt scent provides a subtle backbone, while the fermentation profile remains neutral and clean.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of fresh hop flavors, mirroring the aroma with gooseberry, tropical fruit, and citrus. The bitterness is firm and medium-high, providing a clean counterpoint to the low grainy maltiness. The hop character transitions from fruity to slightly resinous toward the finish. It ends dry with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and a clean, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated, with no perceived astringency.
