This Double IPA showcases a vibrant collaboration with NZ Hops, leading with an intense, multi-layered tropical bouquet. The use of Nectaron and the experimental NZH-106 hops creates a sophisticated profile defined by lush papaya, passionfruit, and the distinctive, crisp essence of Sauvignon Blanc grape. A clean, neutral malt base provides a lean foundation, allowing the New Zealand hop character to remain the focal point without unnecessary sweetness. The experience is bright and punchy, offering a firm bitterness that remains smooth, finishing dry with a lingering resonance of stone fruit and crushed gooseberry, hallmark traits of its southern hemisphere pedigree.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intensity is high, dominated by tropical fruit notes of papaya and passionfruit alongside a white wine, grape-like character. Supporting neutral, grainy malt sits in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a very subtle hint of alcohol warmth.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and Sauvignon Blanc grape flavors. Hop bitterness is moderately high and firm but lacks any harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, leaning towards a cracker-like neutrality. It concludes with a dry, clean finish and a lingering hoppy aftertaste of citrus zest and stone fruit.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite that accentuates the hop profile. A restrained, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the strength without being hot.
