This American IPA is a crushing sensory experience, leading with an intense hop profile driven by massive additions of Nelson Sauvin and Citra. A lean grain bill featuring Two-Row and Pilsner malts creates a crisp, straw-colored canvas, while the inclusion of Wheat lends a subtle softness to the finish. Aromas of white grape, crushed gooseberry, and bright grapefruit pith dominate the nose. On the palate, the hop-forward balance shines through with layers of passion fruit and zesty lime, supported by a clean, crackery malt backbone. It finishes dry and assertively bitter, embodying a modern, high-impact take on the style.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (6-8 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, dense white head that persists well, leaving significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma. Pronounced notes of white grape and gooseberry from the Nelson Sauvin, intertwined with Citra’s signature grapefruit and tropical melon. Clean, low-intensity malt character showing crackery and slightly grainy notes. Fermentation is very clean.
Taste. Immediate impact of tropical fruit and citrus. Flavors of lime zest, passion fruit, and a hint of white wine. Moderate-high bitterness provides a sharp, clean edge. The malt profile is restrained, featuring neutral grain and soft breadiness. Finishes very dry and crisp with a hoppy, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the wheat. Moderate-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
