Heyday Beer Co. presents Stone Cold Steg, a striking Specialty IPA that masterfully blends the visual depth of a Black IPA with the crisp, clean finish of a Cold IPA. An expressive hop profile featuring Idaho 7, Nelson Sauvin, and Strata takes center stage, bursting with tropical fruit, citrus zest, and crushed gooseberry. This fruity vibrance is grounded by a characteristic undercurrent of dank resin and subtle diesel. The palate is light and nimble, supported by debittered malts that offer nuances of spice and toast without heavy roast. It concludes with a firm, harmonious bitterness and a remarkably dry, refreshing finish.
Appearance. Deep ebony to black (35-40 SRM); clear but opaque in the glass. Crowned by a moderate, persistent tan head with fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent pineapple, mango, and passion fruit. Distinct notes of crushed grapes and a resinous, dank diesel quality. Low malt character provides faint hints of spice and toasted bread. Very clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of citrus zest and stone fruit from the Idaho 7 and Nelson Sauvin. Mid-palate reveals a restrained, debittered malt character of light cocoa and peppery spice. Medium-high bitterness that is firm but clean. Finishes very dry and crisp with lingering notes of berry and pine from the Strata hops.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, nimble texture. High carbonation provides a lively, scrubbing effect. Very low alcohol warmth; smooth and devoid of roasted astringency.
