This opulent Wheatwine presents a glowing amber-red hue, derived from a grain bill of barley and spicy rye. Its complex profile is profoundly shaped by months of aging in ancient Pineau des Charentes barrels, imparting luscious notes of fortified wine, honeyed stone fruit, and soft oak tannins. At 10% ABV, it carries a velvety, liqueur-like weight and a comforting alcohol warmth. The interplay between the bready wheat base and the vinous, fruity barrel character creates a sophisticated sipping experience, finishing with a refined, lingering sweetness reminiscent of dried apricots and refined malt.

Appearance. Deep amber with prominent ruby and garnet highlights; pours with a creamy, off-white head of moderate retention. High alcohol content and viscosity are evident through visible legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity; rich, bready wheat and spicy rye malt character accented by honey and caramel. The Pineau des Charentes barrel contributes dominant notes of white grape, apricot, and subtle oak. Low hop aroma and clean, well-integrated alcohol.

Taste. Initial impression of sweet, bready malt and complex stone fruits. Flavors of honeyed wheat and peppery rye are balanced by moderate bitterness. The mid-palate reveals dried fruit, raisin, and vinous qualities from the barrel. Finishes long and warm with a lingering malt sweetness and no harshness.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth provides a sophisticated, sipping quality without being hot or fusel.
