Belgian Tripel 8.5 º 22 IBU
Hertog Jan Tripel presents as a sophisticated Belgian Tripel with a distinctive malt-forward signature. This deep yellow ale pours with a persistent, creamy white head, releasing an aromatic bouquet where sweet toffee and caramel notes intertwine with traditional spicy phenols. Brewed with Pilsner malt and continental hops, the profile balances a soft, grainy sweetness against a rich palette of citrus and ripe orchard fruit. Despite its 8.5% ABV, the alcohol remains well-integrated and subtle. The palate experiences a smooth, malty beginning that transitions into a lingering, fruity finish, supported by a gentle bitterness and the crisp effervescence characteristic of secondary fermentation in the bottle.
Appearance. Deep yellow to pale amber (6-7 SRM). Excellent clarity with a large, creamy, long-lasting white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass. Highly effervescent.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. A complex blend of peppery and clove-like spicy phenols, citrusy esters reminiscent of orange peel, and a rich malt sweetness highlighting notes of toffee and light caramel. Low floral and spicy hop character.
Taste. Initial impression of grainy-sweet malt and light toffee, followed by a mid-palate of spicy yeast character and orange-like fruity esters. Bitterness is moderate to soft, balancing the malt without overpowering it. The finish is long and fruit-dominant, leaning towards a balanced-sweet character with a clean, lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with high carbonation that provides a lively, effervescent sensation. Alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth and deceptive, lacking any harshness. Smooth texture with no significant astringency.
Sensory Profile. 12345Alcohol WarmthBodyBitternessSweetnessFruitiness

Another Belgian-inspired beer, after the magnificent Hertog Jan Dubbel!
