Hepworth & Co Daws IPA

Gluten Free 5.5 º
Daws IPA presents a classic English India Pale Ale profile, elevated by the distinct Sussex hops cultivated by Chris and Gill Daws. This bottle-conditioned ale delivers a rich, resonant malt backbone that harmonizes with a multi-hopped complexity. Earthy and floral hop notes intertwine with a specialized grain bill that provides a subtle nutty depth. The fermentation character is clean but sophisticated, showcasing the traditional brewing heritage of Sussex. Expect a balanced bitterness that supports a lingering, bready finish, where the alternative grain adds a unique, slightly dry texture to the classic English India Pale Ale framework.
Appearance. Deep amber to light copper (10–14 SRM). Features a thick, off-white head with excellent retention and lacing, exhibiting a slight haze characteristic of its bottle-conditioned nature.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring a complex blend of earthy, floral, and spicy Sussex hops. A bready and biscuit malt base is present, accented by a distinct grainy or nutty character from the alternative grain and subtle fruity esters like pear or apple.
Taste. Initial bready malt sweetness transitions into a firm hop bitterness. Hop flavors are prominently earthy and herbal, reflecting a multi-hopped traditional profile. The alternative grain provides a noticeable but integrated grainy depth and a medium-dry finish. Bitterness is assertive but balanced by the resonant malt, with a lingering, clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with moderate, lively carbonation from bottle conditioning. Smooth and slightly creamy texture with a hint of dryness in the finish. Very low alcohol warmth at 5.5% ABV.
