Heaney Brewery Irish White Ale presents a beautiful, refreshing take on the classic Belgian Witbier. This pale, highly effervescent ale radiates with a hazy, milky luminescence, releasing an inviting bouquet of zesty orange peel and fresh, cracked coriander. The soft, doughy sweetness of unmalted wheat grounds the aroma, blending harmoniously with subtle floral Belgian yeast esters. On the palate, a lively splash of citrus acidity and sweet orange notes plays against a delicate, herbal spice, supported by a mild, backing bitterness. It finishes clean, crisp, and wonderfully dry, leaving a lingering kiss of citrus zest and pepper.
Appearance. Very pale straw with a highly cloudy, milky haze from starch and yeast. Features a dense, thick, white moussy head with excellent retention and beautiful lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity, featuring a bready, grain-like maltiness from unmalted wheat with a faint whisper of honey. Prominent aromas of zesty, sweet orange peel merge seamlessly with perfumy, herbal, and peppery coriander. Low spicy-herbal yeast phenols and subtle fruit esters are well-integrated.
Taste. Initial impression of crisp, bready malt sweetness and a soft, grainy wheat flavor. Leading quickly into a moderate, bright zesty orange-citrus character. Subtly balanced herbal-spicy flavors of lemony coriander follow. Hop bitterness is low, providing just enough structure to balance the malt and spice. Finishes refreshingly dry and clean with no harshness or lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the unmalted wheat. Carbonation is high, lending an effervescent, lively sparkle. Refreshing, crisp finish with no warmth or astringency.
