Chainsaw Juice is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases an aggressive and layered hop profile. Prominent notes of resinous pine from Simcoe collide with the deep blueberry and tropical fruit medley characteristic of Mosaic and Mosaic Cryo. This sensory experience is further complicated by the unique floral, grapefruit, and sage-like aromatics of Talus hops. Supported by a clean, neutral malt backbone, the beer delivers high bitterness without harshness, finishing dry and crisp. At 7.5% ABV, it provides a well-integrated warmth that enhances the bright, citrusy oils and stone fruit esters, creating a complex and refreshing strong ale.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6-9 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing. Clarity is characterized by a moderate haze, though it maintains a bright, luminous quality.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit, blueberry, and passionfruit. Specific notes of resinous Simcoe and citrusy Mosaic are layered with the floral, herbal grapefruit of Talus. Malt is a neutral, grainy background presence with a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. High hop flavor intensity with layers of passionfruit, berry, and spruce. Firm, moderately high bitterness is clean and lacks harshness. Malt provides a soft, unobtrusive support with light cracker and bread crust notes. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering, resinous hop-oil aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture and no hop-derived astringency. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle. Restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated.
