The Phoenix is a high-gravity, celebratory American Amber Ale that commands attention with its brooding malt architecture and resinous hop punch. A robust base of deep caramel and toasty malts provides a sturdy foundation for the clean, assertive bitterness of Warrior hops. Aromas of spicy resin and dark toffee lead into a complex palate where rich malt sweetness is balanced by a lingering, firm bitterness. At 9.6% ABV, this vintage release offers a significant yet well-integrated alcohol warmth, making it a contemplative, full-bodied experience that evolves from a fresh, hoppy brightness to a smooth, cellared elegance.

Appearance. Deep copper to a dark, brooding amber with reddish highlights; topped by a thick, creamy off-white head with excellent retention and lacing. Generally clear despite the high gravity.

Aroma. High intensity featuring a complex blend of rich caramel and toasted bread from the malt, punctuated by the resinous, slightly spicy, and earthy character of Warrior hops. A noticeable but clean alcohol sweetness is present alongside moderate fruity esters.

Taste. Initial rich malty sweetness featuring heavy caramel and toasted biscuits, followed by a firm, clean bitterness from the Warrior hops. Flavors of pine and spice mingle with a deep malt core. The finish is long and warming, balancing caramel sweetness with a persistent hop presence.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a smooth, velvety texture; carbonation is moderate. Significant alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated without being harsh or fusel.
