Hammerton Brewery Quaff

To celebrate Hammerton’s ten years of brewing, this New Zealand Session IPA delivers a vibrant sensory experience despite its approachable strength. Featuring the distinct profiles of Kohatu and Rakau hops, the beer opens with an aromatic burst of tropical pineapple and lime, underpinned by crushed pine needles and ripe stone fruit. A clean, pale malt base ensures the Southern Hemisphere hops remain the focal point. On the palate, a crisp, citrus-forward bitterness leads to a refreshing, dry finish. It is a highly quaffable ale that captures the essence of a modern American IPA through a lighter, sessionable lens.
Appearance. Medium gold with brilliant clarity; features a medium-sized, white head with good persistence and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by New World characteristics; prominent tropical fruit, lime zest, and apricot. A low, clean, grainy maltiness supports the hops, accompanied by a light resinous pine note and clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression of bright citrus and fleshy stone fruit from the New Zealand hops. Low, crackery malt flavor supports a medium-high hop bitterness. The balance is firmly hop-forward, leading to a dry finish with a lingering hoppy and clean bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with a smooth texture; moderate to high carbonation provides a refreshing, crisp mouthfeel. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
