Hammerton Brewery’s I Am Brut is an elegant Specialty IPA that mirrors the sophisticated profile of fine sparkling wine. Pouring with brilliant clarity and high effervescence, it delivers an aromatic bouquet of tropical fruits like mango and passion fruit, driven by modern hop varieties. The palate is defined by its remarkable bone-dry finish, achieved through specialized enzymatic processes that eliminate residual sugars. Despite its dryness, the beer remains hugely refreshing, offering a crisp, clean malt backbone that allows the bright, citrusy hop character to shine without the weight of traditional IPAs. It concludes with a sharp, bubbly finish reminiscent of Champagne.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (3-4 SRM). Brilliant clarity with high effervescence. Large, white, frothy head with excellent persistence and champagne-like bubbles.
Aroma. High hop intensity with a focus on tropical fruit, passion fruit, and citrus. Very low grainy-sweet malt presence. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters or phenols.
Taste. Bone-dry initial impression. Moderate to high hop flavors of mango, pineapple, and citrus zest. Low malt flavor, providing a lean structure. Medium bitterness that presents as firm and crisp due to the lack of residual sugar. Finishes extremely clean with a lingering tropical hop snap.
Mouthfeel. Light-bodied and very lean. High carbonation results in a prickly, effervescent, and refreshing mouthfeel. Smooth with a subtle, light warmth and no astringency.
