Guava Lamp is a vibrant, contemporary Gose that bursts with tropical energy. Hammerton Brewery emphasizes a refreshingly bright and zingy character through a collaboration that utilizes lush Guava and Mango. The sensory profile is dominated by these succulent fruits, balanced by a subtle undercurrent of sea salt that sharpens the natural sourness. Poured with a soft haze, the aroma is a fragrant bouquet of tropical fruit puree and light lactic tartness. On the palate, the interplay between the tangy acidity, doughy wheat malt, and the mineral sea salt note creates a crisp, mouthwatering experience with a dry, fruit-forward finish.
Appearance. Pale straw to yellow (SRM 3-4); unfiltered with a moderate to heavy haze from the fruit addition. Large, frothy white head with moderate retention and light lacing. Effervescent.
Aroma. High intensity; primary notes of fresh, tropical Guava and sweet Mango nectar. Moderate lactic tartness (lemon-like) is present. Low doughy wheat malt character. Hop aroma is absent. A faint mineral hint suggestive of sea salt.
Taste. Initial impression is sharply tart and fruity. Dominant flavors of Guava and Mango blend with a medium-low bready malt backbone. Noticeable but restrained sea salt provides a savory, tingly edge that enhances the fruit. Bitterness is very low with no hop flavor. Finishes very dry and clean with lingering tropical fruit acidity.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body. High carbonation provides an effervescent, lively scrub on the tongue. No alcohol warmth. Smooth but crisp, with a slightly rounded texture from the salt and fruit solids.
