This vibrant Witbier reimagines the Belgian classic by spotlighting locally sourced Boric Orchard tangelos. The sensory profile is immediately striking, leading with the intense, zesty citrus of tangelo coupled with distinctive banana esters produced by the Belgian yeast strain. A base of pale barley and unmalted wheat provides a soft, bready malt foundation with hints of vanilla. The palate is light and incredibly refreshing, balancing the sweet-tart citrus profile against subtle herbal spice and coriander notes. It finishes crisp and clean with a faint, characteristic tartness, making this seasonal offering a bright, fruit-forward interpretation of the traditional wheat ale style.
Appearance. Presents a very pale straw to light gold color (2–4 SRM). The beer is distinctly hazy and cloudy due to the starch and yeast, topped with a dense, white, moussy head that exhibits excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring a pronounced citrusy-orangey tangelo punch. This is complemented by moderate fruity esters of banana and a light grainy, bready wheat malt character with hints of vanilla. Low spicy-herbal coriander notes blend seamlessly with the fruit.
Taste. Initial impression is refreshingly crisp with a bready, grainy malt flavor. The palate is dominated by zesty tangelo citrus and fruity banana esters. Hop bitterness is low and supportive, allowing herbal-spicy coriander notes to emerge. The finish is notably dry and features a soft, pleasant tartness without any harsh aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, smooth texture. Carbonation is high and effervescent, providing a refreshing prickle on the tongue. There is no perceived alcohol warmth or astringency, maintaining a light and creamy feel.
