This refreshing Specialty Cider blends the crisp acidity of fermented apples with the floral depth of honey and a bright, botanical accent of lemon myrtle. On the nose, a vibrant citrus-herbaceous character merges with delicate wildflower notes. The palate is defined by a clean apple tartness that balances the perceived sweetness of the honey, while the lemon myrtle provides a distinctive, lemon-lime zing on the finish. Light-bodied and effervescent, it offers a sophisticated profile where the honey adds a rounded mouthfeel without becoming cloying, resulting in a crisp, highly drinkable hybrid with a unique Australian botanical twist.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (SRM 2-4); brilliant clarity with a quick-dissipating white head and minimal lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity; fresh, tart apple character dominant. Pronounced floral honey notes (wildflower, nectar) are layered with a distinct lemon-herbaceous aroma from the lemon myrtle, reminiscent of lemongrass and lime zest. Clean fermentation with no sulfur or significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is of crisp green apple acidity followed by a mid-palate of floral honey. The lemon myrtle adds a bright, citrusy, and slightly herbal layer. Low tannic bitterness from apple skins. The balance leans toward acidity and botanical freshness, softened by the honey. Finishes off-dry and clean with a lingering lemon-lime and honey-wax aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body; moderate-high to high carbonation (sparkling). No alcohol warmth. Includes a slight puckering acidity and a smooth, honey-derived texture without astringency.

While Gurneys Cider draws inspiration from the families English & Somerset heritage, Gurneys ciders are uniquely Gippslandian (The South East corner of the state of Victoria). The early pioneers of the Gippsland region left behind countless wild seedling apple varities, the Gurnett family spent the past 20 years seeking these wild apples and testing their suitability for cider making. If the apple produced good cider the family would revisit the tree and take scion wood to graft into their orchards. The result, Gurneys orchards are mixed with English, French AND unique Gippsland cider apples varities. Since 2001 the Gurnett family have discovered six Gippsland cider apples varities. The family estimates this roughly equates to 1 tree in a 1000 made great vintage cider! The Gurnett family continue to forage (scrump) wild apples across Gippsland to produce a small batch Scrumpy annually and search for their next worthy Gippsland Cider apple!
