Gun Brewery’s Chummy Bluster is a quintessential Best Bitter that balances tradition with a modern, unfined approach. A complex grist of seven malts creates a sturdy, well-rounded foundation of toasted biscuit, warm bread, and subtle caramel. This malt depth is expertly countered by three varieties of English hops, imparting classic notes of hedgerow fruit, earth, and a delicate floral spice. Appearance. Medium amber to copper color (approx. 12 SRM). Due to being unfined and unfiltered, it exhibits a slight, natural haze rather than brilliant clarity. Topped by a creamy, off-white head with moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a complex malt backbone of biscuit, toasted bread, and light toffee. Medium-low fruity esters suggest dried apricot or pear. Hop aroma is moderate, displaying characteristic English earthy, floral, and slightly herbal notes.
Taste. Initial impression of bready and biscuity malt sweetness, quickly followed by a medium-high bitterness. Flavors of three English hops provide an earthy and resiny depth.
