This 2016 vintage Imperial Stout displays a sophisticated maturity, blending intense roasted grains with the elegant influence of red wine barrel aging. Deep aromas of bittersweet chocolate and espresso are elevated by vinous notes of dark cherry, oak, and a subtle port-like character from its extended cellaring. On the palate, the velvety body carries rich flavors of cocoa and dried figs, while the red wine barrels contribute a gentle tannic structure and dark berry complexity. At 9.5% ABV, the warmth is smooth and well-integrated, leading to a long, bittersweet finish that balances roasted malt intensity with refined vinous acidity.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque with a dense, persistent dark tan head; high viscosity is evident through visible legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity featuring bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and charred grain, complemented by a distinct vinous red wine character, oak, and dark fruit esters like dried figs and raisins.

Taste. Complex layers of dark cocoa and toasted malt are balanced by firm bitterness and red wine tannins; dark berry notes and a hint of port-like oxidation lead to a long, warming, bittersweet finish.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture; carbonation is low to moderate with a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth and light wood-derived astringency.
