Gueuzerie Tilquin

Petite Gueuze Tilquin offers a refreshing, lower-gravity take on the classic Gueuze, blending 70% 1-year-old light Meerts with 30% 2-year-old lambic. The spontaneous fermentation and maturation in oak barrels deliver a sophisticated sensory profile marked by zesty lemon, green apple, and rhubarb. Its aroma is a tapestry of complex funk, featuring notes of leather, hay, and horse blanket, supported by a delicate, bready wheat malt backbone. On the palate, a sharp but balanced acidity provides a crisp structure, leading to a bone-dry finish. This highly carbonated, golden ale captures the essence of traditional lambic blending in a remarkably sessionable and effervescent format.

Appearance. Golden (5-6 SRM) with brilliant clarity and a thick, mousse-like, rocky white head that displays exceptional persistence and leaves fine lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity funk with notes of horse blanket, hay, and leather. Bright fruity esters of rhubarb, lemon zest, and green apple are balanced by a light, bready wheat malt character and a hint of neutral oak.

Taste. Initial sharp, puckering tartness is followed by complex wild flavors of earthy funk and citrus rind. Low bready malt flavor provides minimal support, as the balance is driven entirely by acidity. No hop bitterness or flavor is present. The finish is bone dry, clean, and lingering with a tart aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Light body with high carbonation that feels prickly and effervescent on the tongue. Noticeable tartness provides a puckering quality, but without astringency. No alcohol warmth is perceived.
