This Oude Gueuze presents a sophisticated sensory journey, born from a meticulous blend of 70% two-year-old and 30% three-year-old lambics. A vibrant effervescence carries a complex bouquet of aged leather, dusty hay, and a refined barnyard funk, characteristic of Gueuzerie Tilquin's house style. Bright notes of tart rhubarb and citrus rind intermingle with a subtle, honeyed wheat backdrop. The palate is defined by a balanced, refreshing acidity that cuts through light oak tannins, finishing bone-dry with a lingering, puckering tartness. Its mature character reflects over a year of bottle conditioning, delivering a velvety yet crisp profile that honors the family legacy with elegance.
Appearance. Deep golden color (approx. 6 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a thick, rocky, mousse-like white head with exceptional retention and effervescent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with complex wild funk including notes of horse blanket, leather, and damp earth. Moderate fruitiness suggests lemon zest, rhubarb, and green apple, supported by a light, bready wheat malt character and a hint of honeyed sweetness.
Taste. Sharply sour but balanced by a complex funkiness echoing the aroma's earthy and leathery notes. Low grainy malt flavor is present, while bitterness remains nearly absent, with acidity providing the primary balance. Notes of citrus rind and light oak tannins lead to a bone-dry, crisp finish with a lingering, tart aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft, velvety texture despite high, prickly carbonation. Displays a moderate to high tart, puckering quality and a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.

Al naso richiama subito agrumi freschi, soprattutto limone, insieme a note di mela acerba, legno, cantina pulita e una vena rustica tipica della fermentazione spontanea. In bocca l’attacco è teso e vivace, con acidità netta ma non aggressiva; la bevuta resta asciutta, scattante e accompagnata da una piacevole sensazione di rotondità che evita spigolosità eccessive. Questa Cuvée Angélique, assemblata con 70% di lambic di 2 anni e 30% di lambic di 3 anni e poi lasciata maturare in bottiglia per oltre un anno, mostra un profilo più maturo e composto, con richiami tannici delicati, sfumature di quercia e una chiusura lunga, secca, salivante. Il corpo è medio, la carbonazione fine e l’equilibrio complessivo è giocato molto bene tra freschezza acida, complessità evolutiva e precisione finale.
