Red Ale 6 º 53 IBU
This Irish Red Ale presents a unique sensory profile by integrating the heritage of Oranjekoek into a classic copper-hued framework. The aroma is immediately distinctive, layering a spicy nose of anise, cinnamon, and ginger over a foundation of toasty malt and light caramel. On the palate, a soft toffee sweetness is quickly overtaken by a grainy, biscuity character and a dry, spicy complexity derived from the traditional Dutch cake. A subtle, roasted grain dryness defines the finish, supported by a mild bitterness and a clean fermentation profile that balances the aromatic spice notes and the moderate alcohol presence.
Appearance. Medium reddish-copper (14 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, tan-colored head that shows average persistence and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a complex spicy character featuring anise, clove, and cinnamon from the addition of Oranjekoek. Underlying malt notes of toasted bread and soft toffee are present, alongside a very low earthy hop aroma and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impressions of light caramel and buttered toast give way to a dry, grainy mid-palate. Distinctive spice flavors of ginger and anise linger throughout. The finish is notably dry with a light touch of roasted grain and a medium-low bitterness that provides balance without harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly slick texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its 6% strength.
