This Cold IPA presents a fascinating fusion of modern styles, taking the lush, tropical intensity of a Hazy IPA and refining it with the precision of a lager fermentation. Utilizing lager yeast creates an exceptionally clean backdrop that allows the hop profile to radiate with high-intensity notes of pineapple, mango, and zesty citrus. The aroma is punchy and resinous, supported by a faint, crackery malt character. On the palate, a firm bitterness provides a sharp counterpoint to the succulent fruit flavors, leading into an impressively dry and crisp finish that defines the Cold IPA style. It is a vibrant, hop-forward American IPA.
Appearance. Color is a deep gold (8 SRM) with a slight, persistent haze. Features a medium-sized, creamy white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Aroma is intense and hop-forward, dominated by tropical fruit notes of passion fruit and mango alongside bright tangerine and a hint of resinous pine. Malt character is low and clean, presenting as neutral, crackery grain. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no yeast-derived esters.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tropical stone fruit and citrus zest. A clean, low-intensity grainy malt backbone supports a firm, medium-high bitterness that provides structure without harshness. The flavor profile remains hop-centric through the mid-palate, finishing very dry and crisp with a lingering, clean, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, snappy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, which accentuates the dry finish and provides a refreshing bite. Alcohol presence is very light and well-integrated, offering only a smooth, subtle warmth.
