Grimbergen Triple is a sophisticated expression of the Belgian Tripel style, characterized by its deep ocher and copper-gold hue. The use of pale malts and blonde candy sugar creates an extremely round and harmonious body that belies its 9% strength. A complex aromatic profile of peppery phenols and citrusy esters leads into a bittersweet palate where soft and bitter hop varieties provide a firm, structured bitterness. The secondary fermentation ensures a seamless integration of flavors, resulting in a remarkably dry and clean finish with a subtle, spicy alcohol warmth that lingers pleasantly.
Appearance. Deep ocher to copper-gold (approx. 6-7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a long-lasting, creamy, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity bouquet featuring a complex blend of peppery and clove-like phenols alongside moderate fruity esters of orange and lemon. Light honey-like malt notes from the pale malts and blonde candy sugar are supported by low, spicy hop aromas.
Taste. Initial impression of soft, grainy-sweet malt quickly transitions to a spicy and fruity yeast character. Low to moderate floral hop flavors are balanced by a firm hop bitterness. The profile is bittersweet and well-attenuated, ending in a very dry, clean finish with a lingering spicy aftertaste.
