Green Man Brewery

This English IPA bridges the gap between heritage and high-bitterness American brewing. Built on a base of Golden Promise malt with a touch of Crystal malt, it presents a bready foundation with subtle toffee notes. The sensory profile is driven by a classic trio of Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade hops, delivering layers of citrus pith, resinous evergreen, and bright orange zest. Inspired by the ales of Burton-upon-Trent, it features a solid, assertive bitterness that overpowers the light malt sweetness. The result is a well-attenuated, dry-finishing ale that marries old-school biscuit textures with the vibrant, piney aromatic intensity of the new world.

Appearance. Deep golden to amber in color (SRM 8–12). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with good lacing. Clarity is brilliant, typical of a well-conditioned pale ale.

Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring resinous pine and citrus-orange hop character. The malt provides a medium-low bready and biscuity presence with a faint toasty, caramel-like sweetness. Low fruity esters are present, complementing a clean fermentation profile.

Taste. The initial impression is defined by firm hop bitterness. Hop flavors of orange zest, citrus pith, and evergreen are prominent. A medium-low malt flavor offers supportive notes of biscuit and light toffee. The balance is decidedly hop-forward, leading into a very dry finish where a clean, mineral bitterness lingers without being harsh.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, enhancing the dry sensation on the palate. At 6.2% ABV, a very low and smooth alcohol warmth is perceivable in the finish. No hop-derived astringency.
