Spark ignites the palate with a masterful display of traditional German technique. This Smoked Märzen, a collaboration with Bierstadt Lagerhaus, features a robust profile driven by a double decoction mash that deepens the malt complexity. The use of imported Beechwood Smoked Malt imparts a clean, savory smoke character reminiscent of campfire-toasted bread and mild char, perfectly balanced against a rich, bready core. German Tradition hops provide a delicate, herbal bitterness that tethers the smoky sweetness, while the clean lager finish ensures high drinkability. It is an elegant, structured lager where wood smoke and deep toasted grain meet in seamless harmony.
Appearance.Deep amber to polished copper (12–16 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, creamy, off-white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves fine lacing on the glass.
Aroma.Moderate to high intensity smoke characterized by the savory, woody notes of beechwood. The smoke is well-integrated with a rich, bready, and toasted malt core. Low herbal and spicy hop notes from German Tradition are present. Very clean fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste.Initial impression is a balance of toasted, melanoidin-rich malt and clean beechwood smoke. The smoke character is savory but never phenolic or harsh. Malt flavors of bread crust and toasted grain are prominent. Low to moderate bitterness from German Tradition hops provides a clean balance. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, pleasant smoky aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture resulting from the double decoction. Moderate carbonation. Very smooth with a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no smoke-derived astringency.
